NBC ORDERS RADIO, TV STATIONS TO SHUN DBANJ'S SONG OLIVER: “Worry Not” – DON JAZZY TELLS FANS
CLUBGIDI can confirm that Dbanj’s wave-making single ‘Oliver’ has been banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
An insider at the Kenny Ogungbe-led Rainbow FM 94.10 confirmed to us the station has received an official letter from NBC, verifying the ban.
“It’s confirmed. We received the letter yesterday,” the source who doesn’t want to be named tells us but declined further comments as to what the letter contains exactly.
The commission believes the song contains ‘LEWD’ lyrics and not morally appropriate for public listening. Consequently, a communiqué has gone out to all radio and TV stations across the country to yank the song (OLIVER) off their music libraries, we learnt.
It’s believed that the line of the song; ‘shaky shaky bum bum and la bata sebedi’ is what NBC is describing as ‘lewd.’
However, a couple of other radio stations we probed haven’t received the NBC official directive, as at press time, but the producer of the song Don Jazzy confirmed the ban via his Twitter account this morning, and described the move as inconsequential.
“Tweeps pls worry not about the ban of Oliver o. e dey happen. We are kinda used to it now. Ijebu Garri no dey do advert but e dey sell,” the Mo’Hits record president bragged.
The song Oliver has since caused a massive stir amongst young folks when the Mo’Hits management announced a prize for any member of the public (as a group or individual) who can come up with the best ‘Oliver’ video.
Different amateur videos have since the announcement been released on the internet by random youths. The video shows laughable dance style and concept.
