KENNY OGUNGBE & DAYO ADENEYE BREAK UP OVER MONEY ISSUES

The godfathers of Nigeria’s hip hop music, and popular radio/television personalities, Kenny Ogungbe and his partner, Dayo Adeneye of Primetime Entertainment have decided to go their separate ways, after over ten years of partnership, yemojanews can exclusively reveal.

The duo of Kenny and Dayo with their entertainment outfit revolutionalized the hip hop genre of music in this part or the world through their numerous radio and television programme in the early 1990s. They popularized the first major hip-hop group in Nigeria called – Remedies. These groups actually changed the face of Nigeria’s hip hop music scene.

According to a celebrity blog, the founders of Primetime Africa have parted ways based on disagreement over MTN contract renewal. D1 is responsible for handling negations on behalf of the company and MTN’s decision to review their terms of contract with Primetime Africa did not go down well with him, hence his refusal to encourage his partner to sign the deal.

Kenny Ogungbe’s brother, ID, was reported to have put pressure on his elder brother to go ahead and accept the new terms of contract with the telecoms giant without reverting back to his partner. D1 was said to have heard about the renewal when a staff of MTN contacted him to ask why he was no longer coming with the team when the negotiation was going on.

A furious D1 confronted Kenny who in turn told him ID advised him to go for the deal. Disappointed at the turn of event, D1 no longer attends anything that has to do with Primetime Entertainment and Kennis music.

Even, he has boycotted their popular Primetime show on Ray Power FM and Kenny keeps telling listeners D1 is on assignment.

A close source said D1 has contacted a popular law firm in Lagos to act on his behalf regarding splitting the assets of the company as he is working on forming an independent TV show that will focus on interviewing celebrities

BOKO HARAM KILLS OVER 60 PEOPLE IN YOBE STATE

A series of bomb and gun attacks in the north-eastern Nigerian town of Damaturu has killed at least 63 people, the Red Cross says.

Witnesses said the bombs hit several targets, including churches and the headquarters of the Yobe state police. Many people are reported to have fled the town after a night of violence.

It follows attacks on security forces in the nearby city of Maiduguri blamed on the Islamist Boko Haram group. Nigerian Red Cross official Ibrahim Bulama, in Damaturu, told the BBC at least 63 people had been killed there.

He said two other people had been killed in attacks elsewhere. News agencies said the nearby town of Potiskum had also been attacked.

The BBC's Jonah Fisher, in Nigeria's commercial capital, Lagos, says people visiting morgues have reported seeing 92 bodies.
An unnamed local government official in Damaturu was quoted by AFP news agency as saying that hundreds of wounded people were being treated in hospital.

'Church torched'
Witnesses said the attacks began on Friday at about 18:30 (17:30 GMT) and lasted for about 90 minutes.
Gunmen then engaged in running battles with security forces.
A Roman Catholic parish priest told our correspondent his church had been burnt down and eight other churches also attacked.

He described gangs of young men roaming the streets throwing improvised bombs into the churches.
The attacks followed a triple suicide bomb attack on a military headquarters in Maiduguri, in neighbouring Borno state.

Military officials said the three attackers had died.
That attack is believed to be the work of Boko Haram, which has launched frequent attacks on the police and government officials.
The name means "Western education is forbidden".

NEW VIDEO ::: SUNNY NEJI - LOVEY DOVEY

NEW COVER OF Y! MAGAZINE

Y! Magazine has revealed the cover of their new issue and Nigerian superstar 2Face Idibia is the majestic cover star! Check out the new issue press release below and page excerpts from the magazine as well.
It certainly brings to mind the iconic (Abraham) Lincoln Memorial at the National Mall in Washington DC! But it’s our very own African superstar, 2face Idibia; regal, confident, and positively sparkling on the cover of Y! Magazine – in what is certain to be another definitive issue.
“Forgive us for being excited!” says Chude Jideonwo, who is editor-in-chief of the magazine. “Our amazing team including photographer Obi Somto and stylist Maryanne Alabi have collaborated to deliver another stunning cover that magnificently conveys the near-legendary status of Innocent “2face” Idibia as well as the confident future that this edition captures so, dare I say, elegantly.
In the interview, held on the last day of his 35th year, 2face speaks about the past 15 years of his music career; why the many risks he has taken have paid off, what he plans for the future; and why he thinks he has made it through the long haul. He also speaks about his new confidence in publicly speaking about his children, his thoughts about the women in his life from Vien Tetsola to Annie Macaulay, and the greatest lessons that life has taught him.
But that’s only the beginning! This edition of Y! Magazine features profiles of some intriguing young Nigerians. Wazobia FM’s Matse Uwatse speaks exclusively to Y! about her move from Wazobia to Nigeria 99.3; CP-Africa’s Nmachi Jidenma speaks about her job at Google Africa, and three bright stars from Northern Nigeria share their stories: entrepreneur Hassan Rilwan, political Bilyaminu Shinkafi, and mother-of-three photographer Aisha Augie-Kuta, who was this year’s The Future Awards Creative Artist of the Year.
Y!’s vision is to provoke thought and conversation beyond music, movies and fashion dialogue, and this edition continues in that tradition with features like Boko Haram & I, where CNN correspondent Alkassim Abdulkadir speaks about his experience meeting the dreaded leader of the sect; Where is the money?, where Aziza Uko shares the ‘secret’ on why many young people find it difficult to get sponsorship monies for their ideas, How to make chocolate, telling the amazing story of entertainment company Chocolate City, And the winner is…? Where we speak to the split-persona winner of the NLNG Prize for Literature Mai Nasara, and Generation Now, an editorial by Stanley Azuakola on why exactly Nigerians have a reason to celebrate.
A delightful fashion spread includes exclusive interviews with Canada-based Nigerian designer Dumebi Iyamah and UK-based model Eunice Olumide, along with designs from the Africa space at the New York Fashion Week.
There’s even more! Funke Akindele reveals her greatest fear, ChiDynma is spotlighted as Bright Young Thing and Praiz as The Next Big Thing, Nse Ikpe-Etim reveals her deepest feelings and regrets, and the duo of Kingsley James and XTRM Music’s Steve Babaeko speak about Faith and Travel.
The #Hashtag section goes around 90 days of contemporary culture in Nigeria – with reviews of music, movies, places, television, blasts from the past, books, magazines, and more.
Tying it all up nicely is a colourful spread that gets us in the right mood for Christmas. 20 young celebrities tell Y! Magazine exactly what they want for Christmas – including Dolapo Oni, Omawumi Megbele, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Funke Bucknor-Obruthe, Linda Ikeji talking up everything from fab shoes to fast cars!
“The idea of this edition is simple,” said Jideonwo. “We went around the country looking for young Nigerians to celebrate and who give us hope in the country as we count down to the festive end-of-the-year months. These are young Nigerians from various sectors and of all stripes who give you a reason to be excited to be Nigerian. 2face is the headliner for that celebration – and what an exciting ride!
Y! Magazine is available in Lagos and Abuja and will be available in several states and cities across the country. 2face will also be signing copies of the magazines for fans and readers at a media & VIP event at The Hub in The Palms in Lekki, Lagos.

LIST OF FORBES 40 MOST POWERFUL AFRICANS

In September 2011, Forbes Online put out a request for a list of the 40 Most Powerful Celebrities in contemporary Africa. Over 7,500 entries were received! Now we get to see who made the list.
The list was compiled by Forbes contributor, Mfonobong Nsehe. In the introduction for the list, Mfonobong outlines the criteria.
“Determining the celebrities who exert the highest degree of influence in contemporary African pop culture involved sifting through the nominations for the individuals with the highest numbers of votes, and then measuring their media visibility (exposure in print, television, radio and online), number of web references on Google, TV/radio mentions and their general clout across the continent. Ideally, a robust social media presence would have been an invaluable yardstick in determining the intensity of influence these individuals exert over their enthusiasts.”

FABULOUS PICTURES FROM SMIRNOFF'S MIDNIGHT CIRCUS

Smirnoff staged the coolest party ever last Friday. When I say the coolest, I mean the coolest. This is the brand that brought Destination Ice at MMA2 in 2009 and also brought Miami to Lagos last year.
On Friday 23rd of September, Smirnoff did it again. They held a circus on a boat cruise, the first of its kind.

Rap star Ikechukwu was the ring master, DJ Jimmy Jatt was the DJ for the night. Venue was The Prest Boat at Lekki, which was packed with excited guests who had the time of their lives.

The event was the official launch of Smirnoff Midnight Circus, which is a series of parties that will begin in November and will hold in several states. I hear the parties will be off the hook and nothing like we've ever seen before. I will be giving out tickets to the party on this blog. So stay tuned!
